Spurring Black Female interest in Tech

While the world continually becomes a global village and well connected through the help of tech innovations and digital solutions, some girls/women are somewhat lost in this global transformations. As a part of Project ASHA's focused is to encourage more girls and women into becoming tech professional; hence bridging the digital gender divide.

This is the first year of the pitch contest for girls by ASHA. Our pitch contest will support girls into becoming significant contributors to or begin their journeys as tech professional. additionally, it will provide girls with learning opportunities, funding, exposure to leverage points and investors committed to supporting women in tech.
 

A PITCH CONTEST for Females in STEM

To enter the pitch contest, females in STEM, digital learning or intending starters will submit a video pitch via their social media platform and fill a short form. Pitches will be solved based on passion, innovativeness, and ability to scale learning. Among the panel of judges are tech experts, investors and executives.

 

Winners will receive cash prize to start their tech journey and other learning opportunities

 

Considerations will be given to the first 50 pitches. 20 participants will be selected for the final round.
 

SCHEDULE

 

• Call for entries September 30th, 2021 – October 20th, 2012

• Judging 21st - 30th October 2021

• Announcement of next stage qualifiers - 2nd Novemeber

• Pre-event meeting/Virtual Seminar and discussions: 7th November 2021 

• Virtual Pitch Event: November 14th

• Announcement of final winners: November 21st

 

PRIZES

 

• 1st Place:   80,000

• 2nd Place:   70,000

• 3rd Place:   50,000

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

Participant

• Must be at least 16 years old.

• Must be in senior secondary school or fresh university undergraduate not more than 200l

• Must be into any digital course or tech field for more than 1 year

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

1. 1. Submission form
    

   • Submit your entry pitch on your social media Pages (Facebook or Instagram) and tag Project ASHA to entry (FB & IG:@projectasha) before the deadline and complete the submission form questionnaire. no more than one pitch can be entered; properly prepare before recording your pitch

• The video should be a maximum of 2 minutes long and include the following details

1. 2. Your entry should state the role of girls in technology, what challenge(s) you aim to solve using digital solutions or your unique innovation and why you should be selected.

• Keep it short and straight to the point.

JUDGING CRITERIA​

• How well was the concept explained?

​

• Is there a genuine need for your solution(s)?​

​

• Is the description of your interest clear?

STAGE 2

1. Usefulness of Technology to you

2. importance of the opportunity to you

3.  Presentation:

• Did the individual engage the audience?

• Did the individual speak with confidence?

• Was the pitch clear and straight to the point?

• Was the overall pitch compelling?
